Welcome!
My
name is Katie Schmidt. I was born and raised just north of Cincinnati
and I love it here. The city has so much to offer! It is great to have
the ability to head out to a sporting event any time of the year! I
love my Cincinnati Bengals and Reds, but I can't forget about my Ohio
State Buckeyes! I have a ten year old son that loves school and sports
and is very talented in both. My two dogs Brutus and Layla are fun and
crazy! They say things in life tend to come full circle and I am
beginning to see this in my own life. I have been very involved in
sports my entire life. Through high school I had the opportunity to
cheer, play basketball for the school and select teams, swim, teach
swimming to students and teach instructors, play fast-pitch softball and
run track. I also had the opportunity to continue cheering at the
university level at Ohio Northern. While attending college, I began to
study Athletic Training and Education. I later transferred to Wright
State University and completed my degree in Early Childhood Education.
After completing my degree in Education I began working as a special
education teacher. I completed a Master's of Special Education in
2011. I love education, but I also have always missed being involved in
sports. These feelings really hit home when my son became involved in
football, wrestling and lacrosse. I soon decided I needed to get back
in the game so to speak! I have always dreamed of working for a sports
organization, become an athletic director or open a facility for
children with special needs to play team sports! I loved my time
working as an athletic trainer, however, you were limited to sports
injuries and prevention. I want to work in the field to include other
aspects of the sports organization. The sports industry has always been
an exciting and upbeat field that is continually growing.
